I attended the first of two days of A.S.I.S.T class today. ASIST stands for Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training. It is a program that teaches leaders how to identify and help people contemplating suicide. The class is really informative and I think the SIM method they teach can be effective in preventing suicide for those wanting help. I have known a few people who have committed suicide as well as people who needed help. I will try to retain the knowledge picked up so far.
